Admissions

Do I need to write JAMB to apply?+

No. Frontier is a licensed open university and admits students on the strength of their O'Level results. UTME applicants who choose FOU as first choice are also welcome. Direct Entry candidates with A'Level, NCE, ND or HND may enter at 200 level.

What are the minimum entry requirements?+

Five O'Level credits at not more than two sittings, including English Language and Mathematics, with the specific subjects required for your chosen programme.

How long does application take?+

The online form takes about ten minutes. You'll receive an application-received email immediately and a decision within ten working days of completing screening.

When does the next intake begin?+

The 2026/2027 session begins in October 2026. Applications open 1 April and close 31 August.

Fees & Funding

How much does a degree cost?+

Tuition ranges from ₦490,000 to ₦570,000 per year depending on the programme. Full breakdown is on the Fees page. Frontier operates two-part and three-part instalment plans with no interest.

Are scholarships available?+

Yes — Frontier Merit (50% tuition), Women in STEM (40%) and the needs-assessed Access Grant (up to 30%). See the Fees page for eligibility.

Can my employer sponsor my studies?+

Absolutely. The Bursary issues pro-forma invoices within 48 hours and works directly with HR and cooperative societies.

Learning & Examinations

How are classes delivered?+

All lectures are recorded and available on demand through the FOU LMS. Weekly live classes offer direct interaction with lecturers and are also recorded.

Where do I sit examinations?+

Supervised examinations are held at Frontier centres in Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Port Harcourt, Ilorin, Ibadan and Enugu. Diaspora students sit exams through verified proctored arrangements.

How is my grade calculated?+

40% continuous assessment (assignments, quizzes, online tests) and 60% final examination. Frontier follows the standard Nigerian classification: 1st (70+), 2:1 (60–69), 2:2 (50–59), 3rd (40–49).

Can I study on my phone?+

Yes. The FOU LMS is fully mobile-optimised and supports offline downloads for study during power outages or low connectivity.

Graduation & Beyond

Is a Frontier degree recognised for NYSC?+

FOU graduates receive a Letter of Exclusion from NYSC, which carries the same professional recognition as an NYSC discharge certificate for employment and career purposes — consistent with NUC guidelines for open and distance learning universities.

Will my degree be recognised abroad?+

Yes. Frontier degrees are NUC-accredited Nigerian university awards, recognised for further study and employment in the same way as any Nigerian university degree.

How do I request a transcript?+

Submit a transcript request via the student portal. Digital transcripts are issued within five working days; hard copies within fifteen.
